Phat Joe is often as lionised as he is chastised for being fiercely blunt. Yet like clockwork, he always opts to air his most controversial opinions no matter how rude and unpopular.
Vile on-air utterances and controversial antics are really how he’s built a brand around his style of oft-times shocking broadcast.
But the shock jock’s modus operandi has led to his suspension at Radio 2000, where he hosts a breakfast show.

The 44 year old broadcaster was reportedly pulled by the SABC radio station for advancing homophobic comments, which constitute hate speech, on air. “I don’t understand why [gays] can’t accept that it’s difficult for most people to accept their lifestyle”, he allegedly spewed.

Real name Majota Kambule, the outspoken presenter reportedly made more offensive comments about gay men on his show, including tales of how much he detests it when gay men “are flamboyant like women.”
It all happened when Phat Joe hopped to Zodwa Wabantu’s defense.
She recently sparked backlash with her controversial views on the gay community. “The problem is [gay men] are convinced that they have a vagina, but they don’t, they have a penis”, she remarked on her eponymous Moja Love reality show.

The SABC has confirmed Phat Joe’s suspension, which comes just days after DJ Fresh’s highly publicised Metro FM firing. SABC spokesperson, Vuyo Mthembu, established where things stand, revealing that Phat Joe has “been unscheduled until further notice.”
“This is a matter between the employer and employee, and we cannot comment further at this stage”, he said, according to The Sowetan.
