The Eastern Regional Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Prah, has accused Executives of National Democratic Congress of practising “monecracy” with their party.
Mr Prah says he is shocked and outraged by the party’s decision to charge fees to the tune of GHC 420,000 as filing and nominations fees, describing the fees as amounting to selling the party to the highest bidder.
He has therefore called on Ghanaian to join in condemning the practice because it was going to set a bad precedence for Ghana’s democratic march.
Mr Prah who was speaking as a panellist on Adom FM‘s Dwaso Nsem show also wondered how Kumbungu MP, Ras Mubarak could pay GHc 1,000 towards Mr John Mahama’s bid to become the NDC flagbearer in spite of his recent “economy is hard” comments.
Mr Prah finds Ras Mubarak’s recent bicycle rides to parliament as cheat politics that was only aimed at propaganda and not because the economy is “hard”.
“You couldn’t buy two gallons of fuel to fuel your car to parliament but you were able to raise money for Mahama because you need an appointment from him. This is what I call cheap politics and cosmetic fundraising,” he said.
“You want to bring back a man who caused so much mess while in power and did nothing good for Ghanaians and out of mischief you have been able to donate such huge money when you claim you had no money for fuel,” he said in apparent reference to former President Mahama.
David Prah was speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show on Tuesday.
Mr Mubarak has, however, parried the comments by Mr Prah, insisting he was only carrying the feelings of the people he represents across.
He said he was among 96 MPs that donated GHc 1,000 each towards Mr Mahama flagbearer bid.
“96 members of the MPs for JM, raised GHc96,000 and then we extended it beyond our group and brought in a lot of friends and sympathisers who also chipped in GHc1,000 apiece,” he revealed.
