Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has been advised to use Christian Atsu as bait to land Bordeaux winger, Francois Kamano, in January.
The Ghanaian winger has been out of form this season and has made seven appearances starting only one of those games.
With the Magpies manager likely to be handed a limited kitty during the January transfer window by Mike Ashley, owner of the club, his only option would be to offload the Ghanaian international to land the services of the Guinean.
According to Mercato 365, the Guinean international has emerged as a top target for Newcastle during the winter transfer window and they are keen on bolstering their midfield with the arrival of Kamano.
The French media outlet also claims officials of Newcastle were in France to monitor the player during his side’s game against Dijon recently.
Kamano’s performances this season continue to turn heads having scored eight goals in 17 games despite been deployed as a winger or central striker sometimes.
Obviously, the Ghana international who made a permanent switch to the St James Park in 2017 from Chelsea has struggled to make his mark for the club this season.
His performance has left him down the pecking order as Benitez now fancy to use Matt Ritchie, Kenedy, Jacob Murphy and even Ayoze Perez in the wide areas over the Ghanaian.
He has not been able to convince the manager with the very little opportunities he’s been given, and so Benitez could offload him in exchange for Kamano, who could be an upgrade.
Kamano has also become a target for other clubs such as Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Atlanta and Hannover who are all said to be monitoring him.
