Black Stars striker Richmond Boakye Yiadom is hopeful of recapturing his rich goalscoring form which saw him net 15 goals in 14 matches for Red Star Belgrade last season.
Yiadom’s goalscoring spree in the Serbian Superliga with Red Star saw score 39 goals in just over a year and earned him a lucrative transfer to Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning.
Since his move, Yiadom, 25, has found goals hard to come by, scoring only two goals in eight appearances.
However, the former Juventus starlet has revealed that he has been struggling with a niggling ankle injury and hopes to be back among the goals soon.
“By God’s grace its (the ankle) getting well, everything is going as planned I will be leaving very soon to Italy to check it up to make sure that everything is Okay,” Yiadom told Graphic Sports on Sunday at the sidelines of the Calcio Trade Ball (CTB) in Accra.
“I had a two-and-a-half months injury when I got to China since them I have played seven matches and scored two goals. I know a lot of Ghanaians are expecting more but we have the second round and I know the goals are going to flow. I just need to focus and work hard,” he added.
Yiadom, who was named the CTB Football Icon of the Year after a free-scoring 2017-2018 season expressed gratitude to all Ghanaians for their continuous support.
He said: “I would like to dedicate this award to my family, the journalists and all football fans in Ghana, I will continue to do my best for my club and the national team”.
